Interestingly, John began researching the film while still a high school student (in his words) "under the influence of DARE." Just another positive unintended consequence of good ol' DARE (not unlike the founding and growth of SSDP itself)...

Do you mean to tell me that DARE allows independent research into these drugs that takes them away from controlled information?
Um... I think you misunderstood.
Tom was saying that because DARE doesn't allow independent research into these drugs, it creates people who are disillusioned with the way our government deals with drug education, and they end up becoming drug-policy reformers (making movies, joining SSDP, etc).
