John Gettman's 2006 Marijuana Production Report is out, showing that marijuana is America's Number 1 Cash Crop, bringing in about $35.8 billion untaxed buckaroos.

That money is coming from the 22 million pounds of marijuana cultivated right here in the U.S.A. in 2006.

Think about how little of that marijuana is actually seized by the government and you have proof staring you right in the face that marijuana prohibition fails.

To check out recent news coverage here's a google news search.

Actually, there is little need to legalize marijuana usage. It's soooo hard to abuse this drug that the major drawback is price - and that is significantly below $150 ounce for meth. Think what would happen if cigarettes went for that price! Crime would skyrocket! I do have some trouble imagining a more deadly and addictive form of smoked nicotine - but I have enduring faith in the ingenuity of illegal drug suppliers. If only we could harness that ingenuity we would kick butt in international trade and finance.

Imagine if all that marijuana was taxed. How many new schools could we build?

Instead, 100% of the profit goes to your neighborhood's Jay and Silent Bob.

Aside from the billions of dollars our country misses out on, what about all the lives that are ruined and lost to marijuana laws? Something that marijuana alone can not cause.

Snoochie Boochies.
